Classes
Spring classes will start on 12 January 2016 and will run for 16 weeks altogether, which takes us to 26 April 2016.
You can book for 8 weeks, in which case the fee will be £41.60, or for the whole 16 weeks, when the fee will be £83.20.
Both loom weaving and tapestry weaving are taught in the class, though students should decide which type of weaving they are going to start with.
Classes will be held at Evelyn's home Weaving Studio in Penryn.
To discuss this or any other aspect please contact Evelyn
by phone on 01326 376554, or email: evelyn 'at' evelynross 'dot'com
Loom Weaving (beginners and intermediate)
Learn to weave on 4 shaft table looms, to make scarves, bags, place mats, cushions etc, and samples of fabric towards larger pieces of cloth for clothes or furnishings. Learn how to read and write weaving drafts, how to choose the right yarn, how to make a warp, how to thread up the loom, how to weave, and how to finish the woven cloth.
Tapestry Weaving (beginners)
Learn tapestry weaving on frames – the basics of the ancient Gobelin method of weaving as seen in medieval tapestries. Once you have learned the techniques of making shapes and changing colours, you can create pictures or more abstract weavings like kelim mats or cushions, or break all the rules with ‘free’ weaving.
